What are Edinburgh International Society Community Guidelines ?
Your ongoing membership indicates acceptance of our guidelines and any changes which may be made.
Our ethos is simple … treat every member with the same respect you’d expect to receive in return. We are a group of like minded people and aim to keep it that way, so while everyone can join, not everyone can stay.
We reserve the right to remove members if deemed unsuitable for our group. Typical reasons for removal are unacceptable behaviour, repeatedly cancelling last minute, no-showing or continually arriving late to an event or no profile photo.
In order to avoid conflict of interest, we may remove anyone who runs their own group or organises/event hosts for other Meetups (specifically Edinburgh international events).
No Show Policy
Members who No-Show will have all existing RSVP’s changed to a NO. They will be welcome to re-RSVP, however they will need to join any waiting lists if their space has already been filled. If this is repeated, the member will be removed.
For the safety of all our members and ease of identifying people at events, members must have a clear photo of themselves as their main profile picture. Pictures may be taken at our events and used for promotional marketing purposes across various media. If you do not wish your photo taken, please indicate this at each event you attend.
Organising your own event
Want to host your own event? Then get in touch with the details and we’ll talk you through the rest.
- Participate in Edinburgh social events to have fun and make new friends….Please do not create drama.
- Must have a completed profile with a clear, recent photo and profile information.
- RSVP “YES” only when you’re 100% sure you can attend.
- Arrive on time and never “No Show.” Members who “No Show” take away RSVP slots from other Members and negatively impact Social Fun events.
- Understand that after 3 ‘No Shows’ over 6 months any WE WILL remove you from our community
- You are the ONLY ones capable of changing your Meetup Announcement e-mail settings. Edinburgh Society Organisers cannot set these.Edinburgh International Society Organisers ;
- May disallow members with 2 or more “No Show” marks from attending their events.
- Post events on a first come, first served basis.
- May contact the Ozzy or other organisers for help.
Health & Safety
Members attend events at their own risk. Your health and safety is your responsibility and not that of the group organisers. For more information, please see updated article on meetup : http://www.meetup.com…
Edinburgh International Society takes member account privacy very seriously and has strict rules regarding who can access or create a membership account. Please know we reserve the right to suspend or remove any account, or limit access to certain features of the platform, for any reason, at our sole discretion.
Deceased Member Policy
If a member or organiser passes away, Meetup cannot provide access to their account, even to family members or people acting on the behalf of the estate. International Society will work with families and honour their wishes if they choose to close accounts or International groups, or transfer them to another member.
Under 18 Participation
International Society members and organisers must be at least 18 years of age. Therefore, International groups must be targeted at, and only offer opportunities for those who are over 18.
International Society may remove certain members when we become aware that the member is a convicted sex offender or has been convicted of a violent, fraudulent, or dangerous crime.
International Society may also remove a member based on their criminal record, for safety, or for other concerns. Members with concerns about criminal or illegal activity should always report it to local authorities.
